Three leagues went undefeated in the first round: The DRL, DVC and CVC. The Delta River League saw all four of its teams advance to the Division I quarterfinals, making up half the field. This isn't a major surprise, as those four teams – Folsom, Oak Ridge, Pleasant Grove and Jesuit – were undefeated heading into league play. The Delta Valley Conference saw its tri-champions all win. Franklin-EG beat Pitman in D1 action while Elk Grove and Grant were D2 winners.

No. 8 Franklin (Elk Grove) at No. 1 Folsom (11-0)These teams have never met in the playoffs, and it's a matchup between the last two D1 top seeds. Franklin was 11-0 at this stage last year, advancing to the semifinals for the first time in school history. Folsom was in D2 last year, where it went on to win the whole thing. The top-seeded Bulldogs have competed in three straight championship games and are looking to advance to the semifinals for the fifth straight year. This is the third time Folsom has been in the D1 field, and Friday's 50-13 victory over Lincoln-S was its first D1 victory ever.
No. 12 Jesuit (Carmichael) (8-3) at No. 4 Tracy (10-1)

Jesuit is into the second round for the first time since 2003; the Marauders had lost five straight playoff games before Friday's 49-39 victory over CCC champion Merced. Tracy, meanwhile, celebrated its second playoff victory in 17 years with its 56-14 drubbing of Edison last week. The Bulldogs' previous playoff victory was a 55-24 win over Enochs in 2009. While both of these teams have a lengthy and impressive postseason resume, they have never met in the playoffs before. Jesuit is 16-15 in 18 postseason appearances with two championships (1995, 2002) while Tracy is 23-16 in 19 playoff seasons with two championships (1982, 1987).
No. 11 Granite Bay (8-3) at No. 3 Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (10-1)This is a rematch of last year's Section D1 championship game, a 35-23 Granite Bay victory. The Grizzlies are riding a 11-game playoff winning streak, including last year's CIF State Division I Championship Bowl Game. Oak Ridge has won four of its last five playoff games. These teams will both be Sierra Foothill League members next year, and have a long history of postseason games against each other. They met in the Section championship game in 2012, 2002 (Oak Ridge won 20-17) and 2000 (Granite Bay won 41-21). The Grizzlies have a 4-2 postseason edge on the Trojans.
No. 7 Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) (9-2) at No. 2 Stagg (Stockton) (10-1)Pleasant Grove has advanced to the second round all seven times it has made the playoffs. The Eagles have won nine of their last 11 playoff games. Stagg is into the second round for the first time since 1999; the Delta Kings are 2-9 over their last postseason games. These teams have met in the playoffs twice, with Pleasant Grove winning both times. The Eagles held off the Delta Kings in a 22-21 thriller in the first round last year, and both teams return several starters from that game. The first time these teams met in the playoffs was 2010, with Pleasant Grove winning 48-7 in a first-round contest; PG would go on to win the D1 championship that year.
