It was business as usual for Oregon's top-ranked football teams, as 6A powers Lincoln (Portland) and Jesuit (Beaverton) rolled up big wins.ÿ

The same went for West Albany and Wilsonville in the 5A ranks, who both easily disposed of their opponents Friday.
Top-ranked Jesuit, coming off a Metro League bye for all conference teams, got off to a great start in league play, spanking traditional rival Beaverton, 52-0. Crusader running back Paul Weatheroy scored on the first play from scrimmage - a 62 yard jaunt - and the route was on.ÿ Jesuit accumulated 409 yards by halftime, leading 45-0. Beaverton managed just 36 yards in the first two quarters.

The second-ranked Lincoln Cardinals started Portland Interscholastic League play on a similar note, crushing Wilson, 45-3. Cards' quarterback Connor Kavanaugh carved up the Trojans' secondary with three touchdown passes. Lincoln led the game 31-0 at halftime.

Top-ranked West Albany's 5A showdown with Mid-Willamette Conference rival Corvallis was expected to be a nail biter, but the host Bulldogs took control early, taking advantage of Corvallis turnovers to forge a 17-0 lead in the first 4 « minutes. West Albany cruised to a 31-8 victory over the fifth-ranked Spartans. Corvallis entered the game as the highest-scoring team in the 5A classification, averaging 38.5 points a contest.

Wilsonville made sure it would at least maintain its No. 2 ranking, scoring 36 points in the second quarter to thump Liberty (Hillsboro), 42-20. Wildcat quarterback Tyler Reeves threw four touchdown passes in the second quarter to give his team a 42-7 lead at the half.

A 6A showdown between sixth-ranked Grants Pass and seventh-rated South Eugene went to overtime before GP running back Craig Dolmage scored on a 25-yard run in the extra period to give his team the 20-17 victory over the host Axemen.

Dolmage had rushed for 924 yards in the Cavemen's first five victories, but was held to just 74 yards on 24 carries in regulation before scoring the game-winning touchdown.

5A powers Churchill (Eugene) and Marshfield (Coos Bay) started Midwestern League play in dramatic fashion.ÿ Churchill edged the sixth-rated Pirates, 33-29, as sophomore Erik Knapp returned an interception 55 yards for the winning score early in the fourth quarter for the No. 10 Lancers.
