As we once again head over the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania, the Tour of Champions goes back to Pittsburgh. This time to honor the Schenley High School Basketball Spartan team for their stellar 2007 season.
The presentation took place in the Schenley High School Gymnasium during the half-time of the charity basketball ball game, Schenley All-Stars vs. WAMO All-Stars. WAMO is a popular local radio station and radio hosts DJ Boogie and Kiki were on hand.
Pennsylvania and Ohio MaxPreps Representatives Rich Vetok and Tom Elling were in attendance as well. Tom asked the teams to come down onto to the court be honored. Tom spoke of the team's season highlights and passed the mic onto SFC Gordon Manker to do the honors and present the award to the coach and the team.
Coach Fred Skrocki and the team accepted the trophy to a thunderous applause and a standing ovation. Tom also presented DeJuan Blair as the MaxPreps All-American. DeJuan will be missed but is not going too far away. He will be attending the University of Pittsburgh in the fall with fellow MaxPreps All-American Bradley Wanamaker from Roman Catholic High School.
