Timpview’s Trevor Brown and Mountain Crest’s Alex Kuresa – two of the state’s most heralded QBs – put on a show Thursday evening, but Kuresa’s 377 yards couldn’t keep Timpview from advancing with a 38-21 victory.

Also winning: Springville and Juan Diego.
Timpview defeated Mountain Crest for the third straight year in the semifinals, as the Thunderbirds advanced to their fourth straight title game. They’ll face Springville next Friday.
While Kuresa did his thing in the air, Brown did it on the ground, rushing for 182 yards and four touchdowns. The Thunderbirds needed just five plays to score their first two touchdowns.
Mountain Crest tied it at 7-7 and trailed 21-14 at halftime before Timpview pulled away.
Springville 29, Dixie 21
Springville saw a 29-0 lead dwindle to one touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the Red Devils defense came through when Zach Gardiner intercepted a Mike Sharp pass with less than a minute remaining to preserve the victory.
Alema Key rushed for two touchdowns, and Steve Bate for 140 yards and one touchdowns for the Red Devils, who are in the championship game for the first time in 24 years. Head Coach Scott Mitchell – the former Lions and Dolphins QB – played for that team.
3A: Juan Diego back in title game
Defending champ Juan Diego pulled away from a 21-14 lead and outlasted a strong effort from Wasatch to get back to the championship game with a 35-14 victory. The Soaring Eagle will face the winner of Friday’s Park City-Hurricane game next week.
Tana Vea scored three touchdowns and ran for 187 yards as Juan Diego overcame defensive back Keegan Andersen suffering a broken leg.
