The 2010 volleyball season in Indiana ended last week just as it has ended for the past 14 seasons - with Muncie Burris holding the state championship trophy.
The Owls, under first-year coach Thanh Harnish, extended an amazing win streak that extends back to 1997. Muncie Burris has also won 95 consecutive league matches during that span, including last week's 3-0 win over Fairfield in the 2A state championship.
The Owls also finished the season undefeated for the second year in a row at 39-0 and have won 87 matches over the past two and a half seasons. The Owls also stand in line to move into the No. 1 spot in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Volleyball Ranknigs, presented by Army National Guard, should current No. 1 Papillion-LaVista South falter in the Nebraska Class A playoffs this week.
The Xcellent 25 rankings will have some extra company this week as we extend the rankings to 50 teams in order to recognize some of the state champions that have been crowned in recent weeks along with other possible contenders for state titles in the ensuing weeks.
