The Massabesic Mustangs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 42-12 victory over Gorham. That's another feather in the cap for Massabesic, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the defeat, Gorham had strong showings from Garrett Poulin, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown, and Jack Karlonas, who picked up 28 receiving yards and a touchdown. Poulin was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Massabesic's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-5. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Gorham, Deering, and Westbrook. As for Gorham, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Massabesic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gorham will head out on the road to face off against Marshwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maine (Marshwood is ranked 20th, while Gorham is ranked 31st).
