With a lot of states having spring break over the past week, there weren't a whole lot of games played recently. But there was still some shakeup in the second go-around of the Maxpreps Xcellent 25 National Girls Soccer Rankings.
There are three new faces to the rankings as Troy, from Michigan, moves in at No. 23 after winning three games recently. The Colts, right now, stand as the top contender to defending state champion Novi.
St. Mary's (Stockton, Calif.) moves in at No. 24 after picking up win No. 21 on the year, and Colorado gets its first team into the rankings as Mountain Vista rounds out the top 25.
The rankings stand to get shaken up a bit in the upcoming weeks as well. The state of Virginia, which was largely idle, will be playing a lot of games, while state playoffs are starting soon in places like Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Oklahoma. Before we know it, state champions will be crowned.
The state of Nebraska had a shakeup as previously undefeated and ranked Marian lost to Burke, which wasn't done after beating the top team in the state. Burke went on to beat the second-best team in the state, Millard North, avenging its only two losses of the season. However, after the Bulldogs' loss to Papillion-LaVista South, Nebraska is left without a ranked team for now.
1. (Last week No. 1) Liberty (Mo.), 14-1-0The Blue Jays have not played since being dubbed as the top team in the country in the initial poll, but they have an upcoming rematch with Lee's Summit North, the only blemish on their record this year, which was a shootout loss on April 2.
