Arguably the toughest roster to crack in all of youth basketball was finalized Tuesday as USA Basketball announced its 12-player team ahead of the FIBA U17 World Championship in Spain.
The event will be held June 23-July 3 in Zaragoza. The United States enters as the three-time defending champion.
Led by head coach Don Showalter, the roster is loaded with headliners.

Kevin Knox of
Tampa Catholic (Tampa, Fla.) will certainly be one to watch, along with fellow five-star 2017 prospects
Wendell Carter Jr. of Georgia,
Gary Trent Jr. of Minnesota and
Austin Wiley of Alabama.
Another notable selection is
Markus Howard, a 5-foot-11 guard who has already signed with Marquette and will be playing college ball next season.
The group will have big expectations as the past three USA U17 teams have compiled a record of 23-0 with three gold medals dating back to 2010. Twenty of those victories have come by 20 points or more.
