Royse City had lost five games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 16-7-1 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Rockwall Yellowjackets. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Sydni Palmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Palmer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bri Duffey, who went 2-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kinley Cook, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Royse City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
As for Rockwall, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Rockwall's side, they got a good showing from Gianna Velasquez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those zero earned runs gave Velasquez a new career-low.
At the plate, Rockwall saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Looking ahead, Royse City will be playing in front of their home fans against Forney at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Jackrabbits have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Rockwall, they will square off against Longview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
