With Open Division play getting underway next week in the Arizona high school football playoffs, it was an upset in 6A that grabbed headlines Friday night.
Mountain View entered the postseason with a 5-5 record but knocked off 6A No. 2 seed Brophy College Prep 35-19. It was a rematch of a Sept. 20 game won by Brophy 26-3.
Other 6A teams advancing to the quarterfinals include Red Mountain, Desert Ridge, Highland, Queen Creek, Perry, Desert Vista and Liberty, who will meet Mountain View next week.
Higher seeds swept the night in 5A, where Williams Field, Sunrise Mountain, Millennium, Casteel, Higley, Campo Verde, Cienega and Notre Dame Prep advanced.
