Charlottesville had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-7 to make it six. They lost 21-3 to the Goochland Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Black Knights of the 19-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Sunny McFadden put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McFadden was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
McFadden wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylee Gentry, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
As for Goochland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Charlottesville, Goochland also got a great game from a two-way player: Mollie Pickeral. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pickeral was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ryleigh Shapiro was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI. Banon Johnson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlottesville will take on Waynesboro at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Little Giants have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.93 runs per game on average), something the Black Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Goochland, they will face off against Western Albemarle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
