Next Week's Big Game
The biggest upcoming matchup is between Highlands Ranch and Regis Jesuit as the former is ranked 4th in the power rankings and the latter is ranked 9th. Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Of course, Highlands Ranch and Regis Jesuit can't both win again this week. We'll learn on Saturday which team falters and which extends its success.
This Week's Top Game
The highest-ranked contest in the power rankings last week was a showdown between Grandview (8th in the power rankings) and Eaglecrest (3rd). Grandview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as it fell 21 - 14 to Eaglecrest. As a result, Grandview fell one position in the power rankings.
Have a Day
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 256-yard edge over your opponent, and Chatfield had just that last week. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Wheat Ridge, finishing up at 52 - 7. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Ben Frenette, who brought his A game into the contest. He ran for 235 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Frenette as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
Points Galore
The match between Pueblo West and Pueblo South last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 109 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Pueblo West battled it out with Pueblo South for a well-earned 55 - 54 overtime win. Senior Devyn Morgan was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he picked up 136 yards on the ground). This marked the 3rd consecutive game in which Morgan had 100+ rushing yards.
