Southern Columbia Area got a 49 - 14 win over Mount Carmel last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Gaige Garcia. Garcia ran for 248 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Garcia as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Harrisburg (4th in the power rankings) and Governor Mifflin (8th). Harrisburg came up short against Governor Mifflin, falling 26 - 14. As a result, Harrisburg fell two positions in the power rankings.
Game of Inches
After a comfortable win over Waynesboro in the match before, Manheim Central might have felt a bit of anxiety in its most recent match. Manheim Central can thank its lucky stars for its win over Cocalico. The final score was a hard-fought 21 - 20. Manheim Central had two big standouts, as senior Giovanni Lester earned one touchdown and 95 yards rushing the ball, while sophomore Evan Simon tossed the ball for 272 yards and one TD. The one-point margin earned this game the title of 'most exciting' for the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Parkland (5th in the power rankings) and St. Joseph's Prep (2nd). Both teams have their heads held high after landslide victories against their previous opponents. Parkland and St. Joseph's Prep can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Saturday which team falters and which extends its success.
