While Thanksgiving is a day for many to kick back, stuff themselves with food, and forget about everything else, I know of two teams who can not wait for Thanksgiving to be over and for Friday to come. The boys of Christian Brothers and Blue Springs South will play in the biggest game that most of them will ever play, on Friday night. I can only imagine the nerves and anticipation that these elite players must be feeling as they make try to mentally prepare for the state championship game tomorrow in the Edwards Jones Dome.
According to school officials, both teams got in early practices today and were given the rest of the day off to be with their family and friends. Blue South will not make the trek across to state, from Kansas City to St. Louis, until tomorrow before game time, while Christian Brothers is a only a short bus ride away from "The Dome" where thousands will gather to watch the game tomorrow night.
For Chris and I, Thanksgiving was, let's just say, different. It was the first time I've had Thanksgiving in an RV park, but it made for some good laughs. We actually got to have an awesome dinner with turkey and all the trimmings at the Beefeaters Restaurant inside the campgrounds. Thanksgiving was a great day for the Road Tour, however we are ready for Friday and the opportunity to watch our first State Championship game.
