MaxPreps Northern California Top 25 high school football rankings

The top two spots remained fixed, as they have since the start of the season, with Del Oro and Folsom, but there were subtle changes otherwise. The Delta League, the Sierra Foothill and the West Catholic Athletic League pit so many ranked teams against each that rankings change are inevitable.

1. De La Salle (Concord) (Last week 1) 7-0
Section: North Coast
League: Freelance
Result: Beat Logan (Union City) 51-7 as Anthony Sweeney had three touchdown passes and Andrew Hernandez rushed for 116 yards and two scores. The Spartans ran their streak of unbeaten games against Northern California competition since 1992 to 255 games. Other wins this season include ranked foes in Del Oro, Serra and Jesuit from the North and Byrnes (South Carolina) and Servite (Anaheim).

2. Folsom (2) 6-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat Nevada Union (Grass Valley) 63-6 as Jake Browning tossed eight touchdown passes before departing after one series in the third quarter. He hit Jake Jeffrey and Cole Thompson for two TDs each, and the defense dominated again.
Next: at No. 8 Rocklin, Oct. 24.

3. Grant (Sacramento) (3) 6-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Result: Beat Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 56-6 as Deshawn Collins rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns, Mike Green II rushed for 114 and three and Dorrzel Hicks went for two scores. Grant had seven sacks and had 33 total tackles between Chris Atteberry, Carl Granderson and Elijah Orr.

4. Foothill (Pleasanton) (4) 5-0
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay Athletic
Result: Beat Monte Vista (Danville) 41-7 as Kyle Kearns passed for 259 yards and two touchdowns and Isaiah Floyd ran for two.
Next: vs. California (San Ramon), Friday.

5. Serra (San Mateo) (9) 3-2
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Result: Beat St. Ignatius (San Francisco) 32-20 as Sitaleki Nunn moved from QB to RB and ran for 207 yards and three touchdowns. New QB Hunter Bishop now runs the offense. An earlier win was 24-10 over then No. 13 Valley Christian (San Jose) and the losses are to No. 1 De La Salle 41-13 and Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 24-14.

6. Milpitas (8) 6-0
Section: Central Coast
League: DeAnza
Result: Beat Saratoga 49-0 in another runaway effort. The Trojans have allowed 0, 7 ,3, 3 and 0 points and also beat No. 11 Valley Christian (San Jose) 31-17.
Next: at Wilcox (San Jose), Friday.

7. Clayton Valley Charter (Concord) (7) 6-0
Section: North Coast
League: Diablo Valley
Result: The top-ranked NorCal Division II team beat Mt. Diablo (Concord) 65-7 as Nate Keisel tossed two touchdown passes and six different runners scored.
Next: vs. Northgate (Walnut Creek), Friday.

8. Rocklin (10) 6-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat previous No. 11 Del Oro 18-15 as backup QB William Floyd stepped in for injured starter Max O'Rourke (broken leg) and led the winning drive, hitting Wesley Preece with 40.8 seconds left for the winner.

9. Jesuit (Carmichael) (11) 5-1
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Result: Beat previous No. 5 Elk Grove 42-38 at Levi's Stadium as Beau Bisharat ran for 178 yards and two scores, including the clinching 51-yarder, and Cole Brownholtz hit Luke Bagley for two scores. The loss was 63-0 to No. 1 De La Salle in an opener.

10. Elk Grove (5) 4-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Result: Lost to No. 9 Jesuit 42-38 at Levi's Stadium despite two long touchdown runs by Eltoro Allen. The other loss was 26-19 to No. 3 Grant.

11. Valley Christian (San Jose) (15) 3-2
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic
Result: Beat previous No. 6 Bellarmine 42-17 as Kirk Johnson ran for 220 yards and three touchdowns and brother Collin Johnson caught five passes for 86 yards and a TD from Michael Machado. The losses are to No. 6 Milpitas and No. 16 Los Gatos.

12. Bellarmine (San Jose) 4-1
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic
Result: Lost to No. 11 Valley Christian 42-17. Anthony Guttadauro kept the Bells in it early with a TD run.

13. St. Ignatius (San Francisco) (15) 3-2
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Result: Lost to No. 5 Serra 32-20. An earlier loss was to No. 12 Bellarmine 31-28. An earlier victory was 27-24 in double overtime over No. 14 St. Mary's.

14. St. Mary's (Stockton) (17) 5-1
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Tri-City
Result: Beat West (Tracy) 46-14 as Myles Cunningham set the early defensive tone with two fumble recoveries, and Noah Righetti scored five touchdowns. An earlier win was over No. 16 Los Gatos. The loss was in double overtime to NorCal ranked St. Ignatius (San Francisco), 27-24, on a field goal after missing one from 35 yards out on the final play of regulation.

15. Vacaville (14) 5-1
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Monticello Empire
Result: Beat Rodriguez (Fairfield) 61-7 on an emotionally charged night as the Bulldogs played in honor of fallen teammate Demetrious Ward, who was shot and killed earlier in the week. QB Chad Hekking led the way. An earlier win was 13-7 over No. 19 Granite Bay.

16. Los Gatos (17) 5-1
Section: Central Coast
League: DeAnza
Result: Beat Monta Vista (Cupertino) 63-14 as five players scored rushing touchdowns. The loss was to No. 13 St. Mary's, 35-32, in a thriller as a game-winning drive stalled on the 1 late.

17. Campolindo (Moraga) (21) 5-0
Section: North Coast
League: Diablo Foothill
Result: The top-ranked Division III team in NorCal beat Alhambra (Martinez) 55-21 as Jack Stephens passed for 287 yards and two touchdowns and Nick Fadelli ran for 150 and three.

18. James Logan (Union City) (14) 4-2
Section: North Coast
League: West Alameda County
Result: Lost to No. 1 De La Salle 51-7 after trailing 42-0 at the half.

19. Granite Bay (18) 3-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat previous No. 9 Oak Ridge 38-24 as Justin Yeaton passed for 197 yards and three TDs, two to Will Stabbert and one to Brian Graber, and Tyler Brendel and Ben Smith each ran for scores. The losses were to No. 1 Folsom and No. 15 Vacaville.

20. Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (13) 4-3
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Lost to No. 18 Granite Bay 38-24, eliminating them from SFL title contention but not from playoff contention. The other local losses include No. 8 Rocklin.
Next: at No. 21 Del Oro, Friday.

21. Del Oro (Loomis) (19) 2-5
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Lost to No. 8 Rocklin 18-15. Other losses are to No. 1 De La Salle, No. 2 Folsom and powerhouse teams from Hawaii and San Diego.

22. Enterprise (Redding) (20) 5-1
Section: Northern
League: Eastern
Result: Beat Foothill (Palo Cedro) 52-8 and remain the top team in the Northern Section. The loss was 44-22 at No. 15 Vacaville.

23. Merced (NR)
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Central California
Result: Beat Atwater 49-13 in the 45th Santa Fe Bowl as Tyrone Williams passed for 155 yards and four TDs and ran for one. The losses were to Fresno powers Edison and Clovis West.

24. Sierra (Manteca) (22) 6-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Valley Oak
Result: Beat Lathrop 37-7 as Marcos Castillo scored a TD and booted a 31-yard field goal to set up battle of unbeatens in Oakdale.

25. Oakdale (25) 4-0
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Valley Oak
Result: Beat Manteca 42-21 as Frankie Trent ran for 223 yards six touchdowns to set up showdown of unbeatens against No. 24 Sierra.
