I was having a most splendid time as I circled the buffet of fresh fruits, vegetables, and cheese at the Duncanville High School awards ceremony this past Monday, March 23, 2007. We were there to honor the Duncanville Panthers for their undefeated basketball season, as they went 39-0.
On hand with me was MaxPreps representative and top talent scout Randy Rogers and our formidable military leader, Captain John Sturgill from the Texas Army National Guard. We spoke about the season and were enthralled as we watched the highlight video of flying panthers finishing ally-oop dunks.
Randy Rogers began the honors as he spoke about the commitment to a team and stand out talent the Panthers displayed that season. Captain John Sturgill was then called to the podium where he presented Coach Phil McNeely with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions Trophy, as well as D'walyn Roberts with the MaxPreps Player of the Nation trophy.
We had a terrific time at the awards banquet and I thank Kevin Ozee for welcoming us into the school's most prestigious affair.
I already booked my return flight to Duncanville in anticipation for next year's national dominance.
The Ambassador,
Peter J. DeRogatis
