Cornell Beachem highlights Winton Woods High SchoolWatch the senior receiver and AOW Nominee in action against Massillon Washington. Beachem accounted for three touchdowns in the state semifinal win over the Tigers. Who wins in Week 15? This is it. For the past seven years I've picked Ohio high school postseason games against Drew Pasteur's Fantastic 50 formula. This season we again added Need Freeman's CalPreps picks into the fold. This week we're adding even more! We extended an invite to several Ohio prep experts and solicited their picks for the state finals. Glad they obliged.
As for last last week...it was again close. Of the 14 state semifinal games, I predicted 13 of 14 correctly. So did the Fantastic 50. This is the second straight week have tied. CalPreps was behind with 11 correct outcomes.
Overall, I maintain a two-game lead on the Fantastic 50 and open a four-game lead on CalPreps with one week left.
Below is a comprehensive look at who each of us - and the guest pickers - thinks wins this year's Division II state final...
Division II State FinalArchbishop Hoban (Akron) (13-1) vs. Winton Woods (Cincinnati) (13-1)Thursday, Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m.
STATEWIDE BRACKETS
OHIO STATEWIDE STAT LEADERSLIVE SCORES, RESULTS & SCHEDULESEric Frantz (MaxPreps.com/JJHuddle.com): Winton Woods has put together a solid resume that includes seven wins over playoff teams (Moeller, Anderson, Massillon Washington, West Clermont, Northmont and LaSalle – twice). Despite Hoban having the big game experience – Knights are playing in their third straight state final – I think the Warriors nab the program’s second state title. Winton Woods has scored over 50 points in three of its four postseason games. Hoban has beaten nine playoff teams. Both defenses are tremendous. Both offenses produce a lot of points. Which gives?…
Winton Woods 31, Hoban 28.
Drew Pasteur (Fantastic50.net): Akron Archbishop
Hoban (13-1 D2 R5) by 2 (55%) Cincinnati Winton Woods (13-1 D2 R8)
CalPreps (Calpreps.net): Archbishop
Hoban 28-27
Steve Helwagen (247sports.com): Hoban won back to back titles in D-III before moving up; Winton Woods put up 56 on Massillon last week…
Winton Woods 27, Akron Hoban 20.
Gary Housteau (Bucknuts.com): I'll take
Hoban over Winton Woods. Tim Tyrell's team knows how to win big games.
Mark Porter (ScoutingOhio.com): Hoban Tim Rogers (OPSWA HOF): This is the first game of the long weekend and it has the potential of being the best. Both squads are loaded with big-time college recruits and have offenses that can score from anywhere on the field. I saw Winton Woods take Canton Central Catholic apart and any team that can score eight unanswered touchdowns in a state semifinal - as the Warriors did against a pretty good Massillon team - has to be given serious consideration. Both teams earned their way to this point. Hoban, with an offensive line led by senior R.J. Kelly (Akron recruit) and junior Nolan Rumler (Michigan recruit) has beaten five teams that made the playoffs and has been pounding people the last four weeks. WW’s resume includes wins over LaSalle (twice) and Moeller. Quarterback Kenny Mayberry is no stranger to big games and that is a heavy plus. Pick:
Hoban 34-28 in overtime.
Kurt Stubbs (@ohiohshoops): This is fixing to be a big time match up. This, much like most of the seven match-ups, is a very difficult game to call. Both teams play great schedules and have a championship pedigree. Winton Woods dethroned three-time state champion Cincinnati LaSalle, while Hoban owns back-to-back D-III state championships. This should be a low scoring game with Hoban’s defense being the difference. I’ll take
Hoban 17-14.
Steve Blackledge (Columbus Dispatch/OPSWA HOF): Hoban's defense, which has yielded just 130 points, is downright nasty. The experience of playing on Division III state title teams in 2015 and '16 provides the Knights an added edge…Akron
Hoban 21, Winton Woods 10.

Winton Woods is in the program's second state final. The Warriors were D-II state champs in 2009.
