Video: Top 15 football Games of the Week The Mater Dei-St.John Bosco showdown is for a trip to the CIF Open Division championship.
The California Interscholastic Federation will contest championship games in 10 sections this weekend with a total of 108 teams vying for a spot in the NorCal and SoCal regional bowl games set for Dec. 7.
According to the CIF Blue Book, regional bowl teams will be chosen based on competitive equity with win-loss record, strength of schedule and statewide rankings among seven different criteria for placing the teams in the the North, South matchups. Only section championship teams are eligible for the bowl games. Some teams from the Central or Southern Section may be placed in the North regional bowl games depending on their geographical placement and the number of teams remaining among those that do not opt out of the playoffs.
MaxPreps has put forth predictions for the 26 regional matchups and the Open Division championship game. Matchups are based on the MaxPreps computer ratings. Teams are listed with their record, their computer rating and their sectional enrollment placement. Only active teams with the highest rating in their enrollment placement are considered. It is assumed no teams will opt out of the playoffs, thus the reason why three South 7AA teams are listed.

East Nicolaus holds its Northern Section Division IV plaque after beating Pierce 61-14 to win its fifth straight section title. The Spartans await their NorCal Regional Bowl game.
