Coalinga (Calif.)
put an additional 13 points on the board on top of its 38-point lead going
into the fourth quarter to beat out
Taft (Calif.)
44-7.
After taking the lead on in the first quarter, the Horned Toads led 18-0 at
the half.
Coalinga expanded its lead to 38 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS
scored two times in the third, including once on.
Tyler Nash stood out for the Horned Toads in the win.
The junior wide receiver
caught two touchdowns.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two
teams, which the Wildcats took, 59-15. The matchup between these two teams has
been a relatively even one, as Coalinga has come out ahead in two of the past
five games they've faced each other.
Taft has now lost two games in a row, including a 41-31 loss versus
Golden Valley last week.
Coalinga (1-0) goes up against Kerman in a non-conference game matchup next
week, while Taft (0-2) locks horns with Exeter in a non-conference game.
