The upsets continue to mount with the Georgia state playoffs claiming two from the the Xcellent 50 National High School Baseball Rankings.
No. 2 Winder-Barrow lost to Richmond Hill in the second round of the Class AAAAAA playoffs and saw its season come to a premature end. Meanwhile, defending Class AAAAAAA champion Walton lost in a three-game series to Mill Creek. Both Winder-Barrow and Walton exited this week's rankings upon seeing their season end.
The majority of the rankings stayed unchanged as 26 of the top 28 teams remained in relatively the same spot as last week.
Shawnee lengthened its win streak to 49 straight games with a regional championship. Shawnee is three wins away from an undefeated season. It will open the Class 5A state tournament on Thursday against Durant. Shawnee has won back-to-back Class 5A state titles.

Shawnee began postseason play with three wins to claim the Class 5A Western Regional. The Wolves topped Western Heights 17-0 with
Saul Villegas bashing two doubles in three hits with five RBIs. Shawnee edged Altus 6-4 in the semifinals as
A.J. Barron went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBIs. A 13-3 win over Altus provided the regional title as
Kade Self drove in four runs. Shawnee has won 49 straight games.
2. (3) Huntington Beach (Calif.), 25-3The Oilers captured Saturday's championship game of the Boras Classic with a 4-1 win over North tournament champion Bellarmine College Prep (San Jose).
Hagen Danner went seven innings for the win, giving up one run on three hits with six strikeouts. Earlier in the week, the Oilers defeated Marina (Huntington Beach) twice in league play, 2-0 and 13-3. Huntington Beach needed 11 innings to win the first game with
Nick Pratto knocking in the winning runs in the top of the frame. In the second game, Danner went 3-for-3 with two home runs, including a grand slam, with six RBIs.
3. (4) North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.), 32-2The Bulldogs advanced to the third round of the AAAAAAA playoffs with an 8-7, 4-2 sweep of Lassiter (Marietta).
LJ Fisher had two home runs, including a grand slam, with five RBIs in the first game.
Michael Borah doubled and homered in the second game. North Gwinnett meets Hillgrove in the third round.
4. (5) Lamar (Houston), 27-2-1Lamar opened the Class 6A state tournament with a sweep of Cy-Falls in bi-district play, winning 4-0 and 1-0.
Jacob Millender threw seven innings and gave up no runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts and also went 2-for-3 with a double in the first game.
Michael Streitman also threw a two-hit shutout, striking out six. Lamar meets Ridge Point (Missouri City) in the next round.
5. (6) Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 24-2The Mavericks captured the District 15-6A final with a 4-3 win over American Heritage (Plantation). Archbishop McCarthy scored a run in the bottom of the seventh for the win.
Joe Perez got the victory in relief of
Daniel Federman, who struck out nine in 5.1 innings. The Mavericks also blanked Stranahan 10-0 earlier in the district tournament with Perez hitting a home run.
6. (7) Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), 25-2The Bears passed one of their biggest tests of the season with a convincing sweep of Clovis last week. In a 9-3 win,
Jamal O'Guinn went 3-for-3 and
JD Ortiz had a home run. Buchanan also won the second game 8-1. The Bears end the regular season with a two-game series against Clovis North.
7. (8) Columbus (Miami), 25-2The Explorers won the District 15-9A final with a 5-1 victory over Braddock.
Chris Gonzalez went 5.2 innings for the win and struck out nine batters. Columbus opened the district tournament with a 3-2 win over Southwest Miami. Columbus has a tough regional quarterfinal in 19-6 Palmetto.
8. (10) West Monroe (La.), 37-2The Rebels swept Sulphur 5-2 and 9-1 to advance to the Class 5A semifinals. Jacob Pearson had a double and a home run,
Tom Biggs had a double and a triple and
Chase Dejean had a home run in the 9-1 win.
Carson Jones added a home run in the 5-2 victory.
9. (11) Allatoona (Acworth, Ga.), 31-3The Buccaneers swept Effingham County (Springfield) 5-4 and 4-0 to advance to the third round of the Class AAAAAA playoffs.
Skylar McPhee went 2-for-3 at the plate and pitched one inning in relief for the win in the 5-4 victory.
Kyle Jacobsen added two RBIs on two hits in the second game.
10. (12) George Ranch (Richmond, Texas), 24-3George Ranch won its Bi-District opener with a single-game 3-0 win over Clear Brook (Friendswood). George Ranch advances to take on LaPorte, a 2-1 series winner over Atascocita.
11. (13) Owasso (Okla.), 31-3The Rams won the Class 6A East Regional 7 with a 6-0 shutout of Stillwater in the championship game. Freshman
Nate Wohlgemuth went the distance for the win, giving up three hits and striking out 10. He also had a pair of doubles at the plate. Owasso opened the tournament with a 13-6 win over Booker T. Washington and then beat Bixby 4-2 in the semifinals.
12. (14) Moody (Corpus Christi, Texas), 22-1-3Moody won its Bi-District opener with a 2-0 sweep of Winn (El Paso), 6-1 and 8-7. It advances to play Valley View in the second round.
13. (15) Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.), 23-2The Dolphins had a bye to the District 2-6A championship game and defeated Wakulla (Crawfordville) 5-1 for the title.
Seth Etienne had a home run in the win. Mosley opens the state tournament against West Florida (Pensacola).
14. (16) Riverdale Baptist (Upper Marlboro, Md.), 24-1The Crusaders head into the final week of the regular season with two more wins. In a 15-4 win over St. Anselm's Abbey (Washington, D.C.),
Corey Rosier went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBIs and a double. In a 7-3 win over Avalon (Gaithersburg, Md.),
Harold Cortijo went 5.2 innings to get the win, striking out 10. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate.
15. (9) Rancho Bernardo (San Diego), 24-3The Broncos won two out of three games from Westview (San Diego), winning 13-3 and 10-7 and losing the middle game of the series 2-1.
Calvin Mitchell had a huge week, going 6-for-11 with five RBIs and three home runs.
16. (17) Lake Travis (Austin, Texas), 24-3-1The Cavaliers won their Bi-District series, beating Madison (San Antonio) 11-4 and 7-1. Lake Travis advances to take on Brandeis (San Antonio) in the second round of the Class 6A state tournament.
17. (18) West Orange (Winter Garden, Fla.), 23-3West Orange won the District 3-9A championship with a 2-1 victory over Lake Brantley (Lake Altamonte). The Warriors opened the tournament with a 6-1 win over Olympia (Orlando) and face Dr. Phillips in the regional quarterfinals.
18. (19) Pope (Marietta, Ga.), 28-5The Greyhounds swept Houston County (Warner Robins) in the second round of the AAAAAA state tournament, winning 11-2 and 10-0.
Antonio Jareno had three doubles and four RBIs in the 11-2 win and
Ryan Webb gave up three hits and struck out six in the latter game.
19. (20) Fort Bend Travis (Richmond, Texas), 25-5The Tigers swept their Bi-District series with Katy Taylor, winning 13-3 and 5-2. The Tigers advance to take on Cypress Woods (Cypress) in the second round.
20. (21) Helena (Ala.), 34-5Helena advanced to the Class 5A semifinals against defending champion Hillcrest (Tuscaloosa) with a 7-0, 14-0 sweep of Baldwin County.
Sam Praytor had a double and a home run with three RBIs in the first game and added a home run in a 3-for-3 effort in the second game.
Troy Cordrey also had a double and a home run in the second game.
21. (22) St. Laurence (Burbank, Ill.), 24-1St. Laurence won three times last week, beating Loyola Academy 9-0 and Marmion 6-0 and 6-3.
Matt McCormick had a home run and four RBIs against Loyola Academy, and had a home run and a double in the first game against Marmion.
22. (23) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 26-4The Gaels had a big week, winning four times including three against Spring Valley (Las Vegas) 6-3, 15-5 and 13-2. Bishop Gorman also topped Clark (Las Vegas) 11-1.
Austin Wells went 10-for-13 with nine runs scored, 12 RBIs, a double, a triple and two home runs in the four games. The Gaels open the postseason against Arbor View.
23. (25) Cullman (Ala.), 35-7The Bearcats defeated a tough quarterfinal opponent in Decatur, winning 4-1 and 2-1 to advance to the Class 6A semifinals.
Owen Lovell had a double and a home run and all four RBIs in the first game.
24. (26) Colleyville Heritage (Texas), 31-3-1The Panthers opened the postseason with a 10-0, 5-0 sweep of Trimble Tech in Bi-District play.
Cameron Ehringer had a double and a home run, while
Alex Scherff struck out 10 in four innings in the first game.
Bobby Witt homered in the second game.
25. (27) Jackson (Massillon, Ohio), 20-1The Bears bounced back from their only loss of the season to win three straight, beating Medina Highland 6-1, and Green 5-1 and 12-0.
The Next 2526. (28) Sandalwood (Jacksonville, Fla.), 21-5Sandalwood captured the district championship, defeating Mandarin 5-2 in the championship game. The Saints open the Class 9A state tournament with University (Orange City).
27. (32) Gulfport (Miss.), 28-3Gulfport swept Ocean Springs 2-1 and 6-3 to advance to the Class 6A semifinals against Oak Grove (Hattiesburg).
28. (34) Westminster Christian (Miami), 22-5The Warriors downed Palmer Trinity 11-1 for the District 8-4A championship after beating Somerset Academy 10-0 in the semifinals.
29. (35) Calvary Christian (Clearwater, Fla.), 26-0The Warriors won the District 4-4A championship with a 6-2 win over Clearwater Central Catholic. They also defeated Tampa Catholic 1-0 in the semifinals.
30. (38) Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 30-4The Panthers advanced to the Class AAAAAAA quarterfinals with 6-1 and 4-0 wins over Colquitt County. They take on Woodstock next.
31. (30) Oxford (Miss.), 28-5Oxford split its first two games of a Class 5A round 3 playoff series with Lewisburg, winning 11-0 and losing 2-1. The Chargers play the deciding game today at home.
32. (NR) Oak Grove (Hattiesburg, Miss.), 28-4Oak Grove takes on Gulfport in the Class 6A state semifinals.
33. (37) Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.), 31-5Mill Creek won a tough three-game series with defending AAAAAAA champion Walton (Marietta), losing the first game 10-0 and bouncing back to win the next two 3-1 and 6-2.
34. (41) La Cueva (Albuquerque), 25-1The Bears concluded the regular season with a 12-1, 12-0 sweep of Clovis and then opened the Class 6A state playoffs with a 2-0, 10-0 sweep of Ornate (Las Cruces).
35. (42) Jefferson City (Mo.), 23-2The Jays won three times last week, beating Rock Bridge (Columbia) 3-2, Neosho 6-2 and Staley (Kansas City) 7-5.
36. (43) Saline (Mich.), 20-1Saline won five games, beating Monroe 10-0, 14-1 and 6-0, and St. Francis (Toledo) twice by 8-4 scores.
37. (36) Spring Hill (Columbia, Tenn.), 32-2Spring Hill lost to Independence 9-1, but won the District 12AA championship beating Nolensville 14-4 in the semifinals and Giles County 7-0 in the finals.
38. (39) Neuqua Valley (Naperville, Ill.), 24-1-1The Wildcats defeated Naperville North 11-1 and 13-0, but lost to Wheaton North 1-0.
39. (40) Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.), 29-3Blessed Trinity needed three games to get past Columbus and advance to the Class AAAA quarterfinals, winning 8-1 and 6-1, while losing the middle game of the series 2-1.
