LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As a result of her outstanding play over the past week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has selected junior
Tiara Schmidt of
McCook (McCook, Neb.) High School as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week.
Schmidt batted .684 in a 5-1 week for the (20-15) Bison, going 13-for-19 with nine runs scored, three doubles, two homers, 10 runs batted in and two stolen bases. She walked four times and only struck out once in 22 plate appearances.
On defense, Schmidt, a first baseman, recorded 12 putouts and collected three assists, while committing one error in 16 chances.
MaxPreps.com, the official high school statistical provider of the NFCA, provides all statistics for the NFCA High School Player of the Week award. To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible that week.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player is selected representing all participating regions.
