Kentucky's Keenan Briggs smacks an inspirational long ball.
The National High School Invitational in Cary, N.C., has always featured some of the top individual talent in the country, but this year's event could be the best yet.
The talent is so abundant that the only pitfall in selecting an all-tournament team before play even begins is that a number of talented players don't make the cut.
Here's a look at a potential all-tournament team for the 2018 NHSI.

LHP — Matthew Liberatore, Mountain Ridge (Glendale, Ariz.)Look for Liberatore to come off the board early on the first day of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft as he is considered the nation's top left-handed pitcher.
RHP — Cole Winn, Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.)The Colorado Gatorade State Player of the Year as a junior, Winn transferred to Orange Lutheran for his senior season. He's developed into one of the nation's top right-handed pitchers and could go somewhere near the end of the first round of the MLB draft.
C — Jacob Herbert, George Jenkins (Lakeland, Fla.)The top senior catchers in the nation won't be at the NHSI this year, but one of the best junior catchers will be. Herbert ranks as one of the top 50 juniors by Perfect Game and one of the top three junior catchers.
1B — Triston Casas, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.)Casas ranks as one of the nation's top home run hitters and is the No. 1 first base prospect in the country. He's already hit five home runs and is coming off a recent two homer game.
Middle Infield — Raynel Delgado, Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)Delgado has been rising in the player rankings and that has coincided with Calvary Christian Academy's rise in the national rankings. He's batting .424 with two home runs.
3B — Cory Acton, American HeritageActon recently three home runs in a game and joins Casas as a potent 1-2 punch in the American Heritage lineup.
SS — Brice Turang, Santiago (Corona, Calif.)The top shortstop in the Class of 2018 for the past four seasons, Turang will be the slickest fielder in the event. That's why he could be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft.
OF — Joe Gray, Hattiesburg (Miss.)One of the most versatile players in the nation, Gray can play infield, outfield and pitch. He is also one of the top hitters in the event with five home runs. Gray likely will be chosen on the first day of the MLB draft.
OF — Alek Thomas, Chicago Mt. Carmel (Chicago)Although the Caravan have only played five games, Thomas is already in midseason form. The top player in Illinois, Thomas had a grand slam and eight RBIs as recently as Monday.
OF — Vinny Tosti, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)Displaced from his home in Santa Rosa, Calif., by the October fires, Tosti transferred from Cardinal Newman to Mater Dei. He gives the Monarchs one of the nation's top outfield prospects.
DH — Nolan Gorman, O'Connor (Phoenix) If there were a home run-hitting contest, Gorman would be the favorite. A potential first-round draft pick, he's already hit seven home runs this year and has 29 career home runs.
