Bishop Amat (La Puente, Calif.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 21 in California, but was stunned by
Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.), 40-25. Long Beach Poly was ranked at No. 62 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for California coming into the week.
The Jackrabbits were up 27-17 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Gerard Wicks in the second quarter.
Long Beach Poly expanded its lead to 16 points entering the fourth quarter. LBP scored once in the quarter on a Wicks touchdown run.
The Long Beach school's most effective player was Wicks. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns.

Koa Haynes played well. The junior quarterback caught one touchdown.
