Wake Christian Academy is a perfect 7-0 against St. David since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Warriors at 4:15 p.m. Wake Christian Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Wake Christian Academy turned things around against Raleigh HomeSchool on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Hawks. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Gavin Pacileo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Pacileo was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, Wake Christian Academy let Avery McArthur and Joshua Rosser run wild. McArthur went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Rosser went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Bryton Davenport was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Wake Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
St. David's came out on top against Trinity Academy on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Warriors walked away with an 8-3 win over the Tigers.
Like Wake Christian Academy, St. David's also got a great game from a two-way player: Smith Goracke. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Goracke has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for St. David's: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise.
Goracke wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs Thompson has posted since back in April of 2025.
St. David's picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Wake Christian Academy, their record now sits at 7-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wake Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. David's struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wake Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against St. David's in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
