De La Salle needed double overtime to beat Bellarmine last season. Quarterback Bart Houston had a 1-yard touchdown run to clinch the 26-23 win for De La Salle and keep its Northern California winning streak – which dates back to 1992 – alive. Houston has graduated – he's now a Wisconsin Badger – but the Spartans still have 12 returning starters and plenty of experience returning at other positions. On defense, the player to watch is linebacker
Michael Hutchings, a USC recruit.
