Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Ariz.) scored seven runs in the second inning and held on to beat Canyon del Oro 10-7.
Gianna Mares hit a home run in the title game as the Lancers won their fourth straight Class 4A State Softball Championship.
In 6A play,
Xavier College Prep (Phoenix) showed its dominance beating Hamilton 13-0 in five innings to secure its second straight state title. The Gators pounded out 10 hits and jumped out fast scoring 10 over the first two innings.
The countdown to the end of the spring season is on as several more states are wrapping up this week. A chance for state titles and even a national championship on the line. Best of luck to all those still playing.
