Madison (San Diego, Calif.) snapped the 4-game winning streak of
St. Augustine (San Diego, Calif.), with a 35-21 victory on Saturday.
The Warhawks were up 21-7 at the half after taking the lead on a
Pierre Cormier touchdown run in the first quarter.
Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 14 entering the fourth.
With the win Madison extended its winning streak to 11 games. MHS defeated the Wildcats 35-18 last week.
The Warhawks' most effective player was Cormier. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. A member of the Top 25 Wingbacks, Cormier has now scored 21 touchdowns on the season.
Francoise Sims II made a difference for the Saints. The freshman ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.
St. Augustine came in surrendering 17.1 points per game this season. SA struggled against Madison's offense, which entered the game scoring 38.9 points per game.
The loss comes after St. Augustine defeated Valley Center 38-21 last week.
