Video: California All-State Boys Basketball TeamNorCal POY Jordan Ratinho among Golden State standouts recognized.It was an up season for high school boys basketball in Northern California with teams – and players – large and small doing big things. Some ended their seasons in the CIF state finals at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento. All of them were determined to at least get there.

Player of the Year - Jordan Ratinho, De La Salle (Concord), 6-foot-5, Senior The heart and soul of the top team in Northern California, the USF-bound Ratinho could score every which way for the Spartans, and he could defend any position on the floor. A four-year starter, Ratinho's teams went 106-22, including 31-3 this season, winning North Coast Section and NorCal Open Division titles. Averaging 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals, Ratinho was the San Francisco Chronicle Player of the Year.

FIRST TEAM
G - Jordan Ford, Folsom, 6-0, Sr.A three-time MaxPreps NorCal first team player and The Sacramento Bee Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior, Ford was terrific again as a senior. The Saint Mary's College-bound guard averaged 19.7 points and led the Bulldogs back to the NorCal Open playoffs.
G - Jake Killingsworth, Serra (San Mateo), 6-5, Sr.The San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year powered the Padres to the CIF State Division II championship, the first in program history. Headed to Columbia University, Killingsworth had 15 points and 16 rebounds to beat Long Beach Poly 48-43 in the state final.
F - Matthew Manning, Sheldon (Sacramento), 6-6, Sr.A Sacramento Bee All-Metro Team performer and one of the nation's top pitching prospects, Manning did it all for the Huskies. He could score inside and out, run the floor and rebound, averaging 19.7 points and 6.4 rebounds for a team that reached the NorCal Open playoffs. He is expected to be a first round baseball draft pick as a pitcher.
G - Damari Milstead, Moreau Catholic (Hayward), 6-2, Jr.An all-East Bay Times pick, Milstead was the leading scorer for the Mariners, who returned to the NorCal Open Division playoffs. He averaged 19.1 points and 5.4 assists.
F - Solomon Young, Sacramento, 6-7, Sr.The Sacramento Bee Player of the Year, Young guided the Dragons' finest team, one that claimed the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship and reached the NorCal Open Division semifinals before falling to champion De La Salle. Headed to Iowa State, Young averaged 17.4 points and 7.6 rebounds for a 30-2 team.
SECOND TEAM
G - Jaelen Ragsdale, Weston Ranch (Stockton), 6-0, Sr.The Stockton Record Player of the Year, Ragsdale averaged 20 points and powered his team to win the Valley Oak League and Sac-Joaquin Section Division III championship.
G - Sayeed Pridgett, El Cerrito, 6-4, Sr.A four-year starter for a team that regularly made the NorCal Open or regular-division playoffs, Pridgett was the heart and soul of the Gauchos. The San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro Team player is headed to Montana.
G - Christian Ellis, Modesto Christian, 6-3, Sr.The Modesto Bee co-Player of the Year, Ellis was a four-year starter, strong on defense and skilled on offense for a team that reached the NorCal Open Division final. He averaged 12.1 points, six rebounds and 4.8 assists.
F - Robinson Idehen, Modesto Christian, 6-10, C, Sr.The co-Player of the Year by Modesto Bee, Idehen averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I champions who reached the NorCal Open finals.
C - Jordan Brown, Woodcreek (Roseville), 6-10, So.The youngest player on any of these teams, Brown may soon emerge as the most heavily recruited one, too. He averaged 26 points and 15 rebounds and also could pass and run the floor in earning Sacramento Bee All-Metro Team honors.
THIRD TEAM
G - Alex Gil-Fernandez, Gunn (Palo Alto), 6-4, Sr.Gil-Fernandez averaged 19.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals for a league champion as one of the finest players in program history.
G - Jade Smith, St. Joseph Notre Dame (Alameda), 6-1, Jr.Averaging 17 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals, Smith powered the way for the CIF state Division V champions. He was a first-team East Bay Times pick.
G - Christian Terrell, Sacramento, 6-4, Sr.A four-year starter who was second on the team in scoring and first in rebounding and tops in versatility, Terrell helped power the Dragons to a school-record season, including a Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship. He's off to UC Santa Barbara.
G - Jared Wall, Folsom, 6-0, Sr.The lightning rod of energy and fierce competitive drive for Folsom, Wall could score, rebound, defend and inspire. A Sacramento Bee All-Metro Team player, Wall is the son of Bulldogs coach Mike Wall, and together, they produced some of the best teams in regional history.
G - Curtis Witt, Saint Francis (Mountain View), 6-3, Sr.In addition to leading the team in scoring at 12.1 points per game, Witt was crafty and smart in leading the champions of the West Catholic Athletic League, the Central Coast Section Open Division and reaching the NorCal Open Division field.
FOURTH TEAM
G - Calvin Geraci, San Marin (Novato), 6-2, Sr.The North Bay Player of the Year and a San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro Team player, Geraci averaged 23.2 points and eight rebounds.
G - Jamaree Bouyea, Palma (Salinas), 6-2, Jr.The Monterey Herald All-County Player of the Year averaged 18 points and fueled the Chieftains to the NorCal Division IV championship.
G - James Kelbert, Leland (San Jose), 6-3, Sr.The Blossom Valley Athletic League MVP and a first-team San Jose Mercury News pick averaged 23 points, 13 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Central Coast Section Division II champions.
F - Oscar Frayer, Moreau Catholic (Hayward), 6-6, Sr.A four-year starter for the powerhouse Mariners, Frayer averaged 15.1 points and 9.7 rebounds in earning all-East Bay Times honors.
F - Alfred Hollins, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (San Francisco), 6-6, Jr.A highly touted prospect, Hollins was a one-man gang for a young Fightin' Irish program.
FIFTH TEAM
G - Isaiah Brooks, Sheldon (Sacramento), 6-0, Sr.Crafty as a lefthander and able to score on drives, pull-ups and 3-point shots, the Chico State-bound Brooks had a stellar season for a team that reached the second round of the NorCal Open Division playoffs.
G - Elishja Duplechan, Sheldon (Sacramento), 6-0, Jr.A terrific ballhandler and facilitator, Duplechan will be one of Northern California's top players next season. He was paramount in helping the Huskies win the Delta League and reaching the NorCal Open Division playoffs.
G - Isaiah Halsey, Liberty Ranch (Galt), 6-0, Sr.The driving force for the Hawks that played big despite a small roster in terms of size, Halsey averaged 24.5 points for a 30-2 team.
F - Spencer LaShells, Monte Vista (Danville), 6-6, Sr.The team leader in points and rebounds, LaShells was a vital part of a surging program that has won North Coast Section, NorCal and CIF state titles.
C - Austin Hilton, Half Moon Bay, 6-6, Sr.The focal point of a 29-4 team, Hilton averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds. He was also a good passer and shot blocker.
COACHES OF THE YEAR
Open Division: AJ Kuhle, De La Salle (Concord)It's one thing to replace a coaching legend in Frank Allocco, and it's another to keep the machine going, taking it farther than before. De La Salle, stressing defense and teamwork, went 31-3 and won North Coast Section and NorCal Open Division championships.
Division I: Mark DeLuca, BerkeleyIn his final season after six strong seasons with the Yellowjackets, DeLuca's team was able to battle through the NorCal Division I field, and win it for the first time, eliminating Jesuit, Monte Vista and Menlo-Atherton. Berkeley went 24-9.
Division II: Chuck Rapp, Serra (San Mateo)A school steeped in athletic tradition, the Padres now have some serious basketball hardware. Serra won the Northern California and CIF state D-II championships with a 26-5 record.
Division III: Brett Lewis, MantecaYoung but wise beyond his years, Lewis inspired and motivated his team to overcome losses in Valley Oak League play to storm to a CIF state Division III championship, the only team in the Sac-Joaquin Section to do so, boys or girls.
Division IV: Kelley Lopez, Palma (Salinas)The Chieftains rallied in games to survive postseason potholes, emerging as NorCal Division IV champions and reaching the CIF state finals for just the second time, finishing 26-5.
Division V: Don Lippi, St. Joseph Notre Dame (Alameda)A coaching figure in Northern California since the mid 1980s, Lippi knows how to do two things especially well: teach the game and win games. The Pilots won the CIF state Division V title in going 26-9, and Lippi has won 802 career games.
