Indiana high school football fans don't have to wait much longer as Hoosier State football teams return to the gridiron Aug. 20 to kick off the 2020 season.
Avon begins the season atop the state after a disappointing end to the 2019 season, bowing out in the first round of the state tournament after an unbeaten regular season.
Defending state champions New Palestine starts the season at No. 2 in the state, riding a 28-game winning streak after winning back-to-back state championships.
Defending Class 6A state champions, Carmel, also begins the season in the Top 5 as the Greyhounds look to capture their third state title in the past five years in Indiana's highest classification.
Other defending state champions beginning the season in the Top 10 of the state rankings include Evansville Memorial (Evansville) and Indianapolis Bishop Chatard (Indianapolis).
