High school sporting events in Southern Nevada have been canceled due to the Sunday night shooting in Las Vegas that left at least 58 dead and hundreds wounded.
In a release from the Clark County School District, "Many parents have inquired about the status of school today following last night's tragedy on The Strip. We want you to know that school will be in session today for all CCSD schools. … However, all after school sports and activities have been canceled for today."
A boys and girls regional tennis tournament scheduled Monday was postponed until later in the week, according to Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association assistant director Donnie Nelson.
The morning after the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history,
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) football coach Kenny Sanchez said his campus was reeling and numb.
"It's been a long morning," he said. "As you can imagine, school is pretty chaotic right now. Students are definitely affected by it. We all are."
