The 2021 New York high school football season kicks off next week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams.
Canisius, the state's preseason No. 1, will have a new head coach in Bryan Gorman. Gorman, who had a 58-12 record the last nine seasons as the program's JV coach, has taken over on an interim basis for Rich Robbins, who stepped down in May to move to Florida for family reasons. Under Robbins, the Crusaders went 78-29 and had two undefeated seasons.
Erasmus Hall has the
best player in the Northeast in senior Moses Walker. A Rutgers commit, the four-star prospect is one of the country's Top 20 linebacker recruits.
New York did not hold state championships in 2020. This year's NYSPHSAA finals will be held Dec. 3-4 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
NYSPHSAA State champs in 2019 were New Rochelle (AA), Cornwall Central (A), Chenango Forks (B), Susquehanna Valley (C) and Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama (D).
