Earlier this summer, we kicked off our preview of the 2022 high school football season with the
Preseason MaxPreps Top 25, expanded
top 100 and the
best team in every state. Next, we shift the focus from teams to players with a look at the elite at each position beginning today with the quarterbacks. The group of signal callers in the Class of 2023 is as good as there has been over the last decade.
The top three spots in the
247Sports rankings are all quarterbacks. If it finishes that way it will be the first time in the Top247 era.
In 2018, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields finished as the top two recruits. Two years later, Bryce Young and DJ Uiagalelei accomplished the same feat.
Nine of the 10 quarterbacks selected are already committed with Elijah Brown of Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) being the lone undecided. Brown is one of two non-senior signal callers on the list.
California has the most featured with four followed by Louisiana with two. Alabama, Arizona, Michigan and Texas all have one.
