How many Great Lakes teams are in this week's Top 25 high school football rankings?
Silos, smokestacks, steeples and stadium lights. The Great Lakes region is molded by its horizon. North Coast communities are defined - in part - by Friday nights.
Here's our latest look at the top prep football teams in a landscape that houses the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Lambeau Field, the Big Ten Conference, Notre Dame and several of the top high school programs in the history of the sport.
State champs, national acclaim, big-time talent. North Coast football is a force. So are the following teams from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

1. Mentor (Ohio) – 4-0 Last Week (1): The Cardinals beat
Elyria (Ohio) 73-0, handing head coach
Steve Trivisonno his 200th career victory and Elyria its largest shutout loss since a 1905 - a 76-0 loss to
Shaw (East Cleveland, Ohio). The Cardinals scored 42 first quarter-points. Junior QB
Ian Kipp threw four touchdowns. Ranked No. 17 in the
MaxPreps Top 25 National Rankings this week.

Cameron Martinez threw for 243 yards and accounted for three touchdowns.

Shane Hamm fired three touchdown passes, including two to
Brayden Fox, as the Knights rolled West Toronto Prep (Ontario) 49-14.

5. East St. Louis (Ill.) – 4-0 Last Week (7): Junior quarterback
Tyler Macon threw three touchdown passes and ran for three more as the Flyers beat
Belleville West (Ill.) 53-0 win. It was
East St. Louis’ 21st straight Southwestern Conference win and Belleville West’s first shutout loss since 2016 (also to East St. Louis). The Flyers produced 503 yards of offense.

Griffins scored a tough 20-10 win over

A.J. Henning caught a 32-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 29-yard run. Defensively, Lincoln-Way East limited Bolingbrook to 83 total yards.

Bombers scored 24 unanswered points over a 13-minute stretch to beat Cathedral (Indianapolis) 41-37. Senior quarterback
Matthew Rueve threw three touchdowns passes and ran for another score.
