Canyon Hills had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-14-1 to make it six. They fell just short of the University City Centurions by a score of 14-13. On the bright side, the 13- run performance marked the Rattlers' highest-scoring game to date.
Lexi Harrison put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 8.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits. Harrison was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Harmony Cooks-Macdonald was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Karalyne Tabada was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
As for University City, they now have a winning record of 12-11. The game was the first time they have beaten Canyon Hills on their field since April 11, 2017.
On University City's side, they let Shiloh Larson and Alyssa Castillo run wild. Larson went 4-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Castillo went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Larson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ingrid Peters, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Canyon Hills will head out to square off against Ramona at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University City, they will welcome Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
