The list that includes Chase Daniel (Chicago Bears), Greg McElroy (Alabama and Jets), Kenny Hill (TCU) and current head coach Riley Dodge. Quinn Ewers could be next.
The 6-3, 195-pound sophomore distinguished himself in the Dragons' biggest game to date in 2019, accounting for six touchdowns in a 46-34 victory over Guyer (Denton) in a District 5-6A showdown on the road. Ewers completed 22-of-35 passes for 331 yards and four touchdowns. He added 117 rushing yards for two more scores, topped off by a 70-yard sprint that cemented the victory late in the fourth quarter.
Carroll (5-0) moved up one rung to No. 5 in this week's MaxPreps Texas Top 25. Guyer (4-1), which led 14-0 after one quarter and rallied late after falling behind, dropped three slots to No. 10.

No. 2 Katy withstood a comeback bid from Tompkins (Katy) to prevail 35-30 in an intriguing District 19-6A matchup between the established program and the rising newcomer. The significance of a five-point loss for Tompkins? In the previous five meetings with Katy, Tompkins was outscored by a combined 319-20. The district win was the 68th in succession for Katy, a streak that began in 2009.

Ryan crushed Newman Smith (Carrollton) 68-0 with quarterback Seth Henigan throwing for four touchdowns in a 61-point first half. Shadow Creek polished off Texas City 34-0 as junior quarterback Kyron Drones threw for 215 yards and two scores.

Defending state champion Aledo needed overtime at home to outlast Midlothian 34-28 to extend its state-record victory streak in district play to 86 in a row. DeMarco Roberts forced a Midlothian fumble that Nathen Fingar returned 82 yards for the winning score on the fourth play of overtime. Aledo last lost a district game on Oct. 5, 2007 to Everman 35-28.

Carthage rallied from a 14-7 third-quarter deficit to defeat 4A-2 power Pleasant Grove (Texarkana) in a marquee matchup. Carthage quarterback Kai Horton caught a touchdown pass to tie the score at 14 in the third quarter and threw a scoring pass to Kel Williams to begin a 21-point fourth quarter flurry. Brownwood enters the poll this week on the heels of its third shutout of the season and its fourth game without allowing a touchdown.
