Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 3 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings, but was stunned by
Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 22-7. Parkview was ranked No. 1157 nationally and No. 48 in the Freeman Rankings for Georgia coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a
David McTier touchdown pass to
Cory Schaeffer, the Rams went into halftime with a 7-6 lead. The Panthers took the lead for good with a passing touchdown in the third quarter.
Grayson's McTier was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown.
GHS's lone touchdown came on a 45-yard pass from McTier to Schaeffer in the first quarter.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Loganville school took, 36-0.
The loss comes after Grayson defeated Central 35-3 last week. The win was a nice bounce back for Parkview, which lost to Norcross last week, 20-0. The loss snapped the Rams' 2-game winning streak.
In a AAAAAA Region 8 game next week Parkview (2-1) takes on Archer, and Grayson (2-1) will go up against Dacula also in a AAAAAA Region 8 game.
