After repairs that darkened the stadium for a year, the Eagles re-opened with a convincing victory over Guyer (Denton) to earn the top spot.

1. Allen 1-0 The Eagles, with three straight state titles to their credit, increased their winning streak to 44 with a 48-16 debut over Guyer (Denton).
2. Katy 1-0A fourth straight state championship appearance is the goal this fall and the Tigers took a solid first step with a 46-0 blanking of Kingwood (Humble).
3. Martin (Arlington) 1-0Bob Wager's impressive Warriors were the talk of Week 1 after stunning DeSoto 46-26.
4. Trinity (Euless) 1-0Chris Jensen in his head coaching debut found a way for his Trojans to spring a 26-21 upset of nation's No.1 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.).
5. Cedar Hill 1-0Graduating its core of skill players from two consecutive state championship teams did not seem a problem in the Longhorns' 46-7 stampede over South Oak Cliff (Dallas).
6. Skyline (Dallas) 1-0Head coach Derick Roberson's debut yielded a 23-12 road victory over South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie).
7. Westfield (Houston) 1-0A field goal by
Gavin Do midway through the fourth quarter held up as the game-winning points in a 29-26 decision over Manvel.
8. Steele (Cibolo) 1-0C.J. Williams caught five passes for 135 yards with three going for touchdowns in a 49-14 romp over Madison (San Antonio).
9. Westlake (Austin) 1-0Taking down Carroll (Southlake) 20-14 is something former Dragons coach Todd Dodge and his Chaps can build on this fall.
10. Lake Travis (Austin) 1-0The Cavaliers had an easier time than expected in doubling up Midway (Waco) 48-24.
11. North Shore (Houston) 1-0Quarterback
Maciah Long accounted for 426 total yards and four touchdowns in a in a 49-13 thumping of Clear Springs (League City).
12. Atascocita (Humble) 1-0The Eagles' 13 returning starters proved they know how to find the end zone in a 79-0 rout of Clear Falls (League City).
13. Marcus (Flower Mound) 1-0Tough battles in District 6-6A are ahead, but the Marauders got off to a solid start with a 27-17 triumph over Mansfield.
14. Manvel 0-1D'Eriq King ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more, but it was not enough as the Mavericks fell to Spring Westfield (Houston), 29-26.
15. DeSoto 0-1Not much went right in a 46-26 opening loss to Martin (Arlington), but with the Eagles' track record, expect a quick turnaround.
16. The Woodlands 1-0In his first start, an admittedly nervous junior quarterback
Eric Schmid threw for two touchdowns in a 28-7 victory over Cy-Fair (Cypress).
17. Cedar Park 1-0A convincing 31-13 opening victory over Aledo vaults the Timberwolves to the top rung this week in Class 5A.
18. Brennan (San Antonio) 1-0Taveon Tolefree ran for a touchdown and passed for another in a 31-13 Bears victory over Rouse (Leander).
19. Judson (Converse) 1-0Brandon Walters kicked a pair of field goals to help the Rockets to a 12-9 triumph over Hendrickson (Pfluegerville).
20. Pearland 1-0Trailing at halftime, the Oilers scored 29 points in the second half for a 41-20 defeat of College Park (The Woodlands).

Lil' Jordan Humphrey was held to under 100 yards and the Dragons could manage only two touchdowns in a 20-14 loss to Westlake (Austin).
22. Plano 1-0Brandon Stephens rushed for three touchdowns in a 35-17 taming of John Tyler (Tyler).
23. Ennis 1-0The defending 5A DII state champions overcame a 21-point first quarter deficit for a 33-28 victory over Timberview (Mansfield).
24. Ryan (Denton) 1-0Spencer Sanders rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another in a 31-14 triumph over Rockwall.
25. Dickinson 1-0Jordan Myers scored four touchdowns and the Gators coasted to a 61-7 rout of MacArthur (Houston).
