Watch the No. 1 player in the nation and UConn recruit in action.
Dana Evans has started her senior year the same way she closed her junior year - as the leading scorer in Indiana girls basketball, according to MaxPreps' Computer Rankings.
The 5-foot-6 senior guard from Gary West Side, is averaging 38.5 points in the young season, slightly ahead of last year's state-best average of 35.8. The University of Louisville recruit also is averaging an impressive 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 5.0 assists. Last summer she earned a gold medal playing for the USA Under-18 National Team.
A distant No. 2 in scoring is 6-0 senior forward Madison Wise, who is averaging 29 points for Greenfield Central. She also averages 10.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals and is shooting 51 percent from the field.
The state's No. 1 rebounder with an impressive 19.3 per outing is Macee Williams, a 6-0 senior center from Fountain Central. She also is the No. 13 scorer in the state at 24.3 points per game.
A sophomore is leading the state in assists and she's only 5-3. Emmery Joseph of Marquette Catholic is dishing out 9.7 assists per game and has averaged just over two turnovers. She had a high of 13 assists in one game as she leads a very talented sophomore-dominated team.
Two players share the lead with 7.5 steals per game: Kendall Fisher, a 5-1 junior from Tindley, and Tayler Vauters, a 5-6 senior from Riverton Parke. Vauters also is the No. 10 scorer at 24.5 points.
