Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding
performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close
out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state.
Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in
addition to local and state accolades.
Bristol Tobin of
Grace Christian (Anchorage) is the 2025-26 MaxPreps Alaska High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4 senior forward led the Grizzlies to a 25-4 record and their second state championship in the past four seasons.
For the season, Tobin averaged 15.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 60 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3-point range.
In a 75-41 victory over Tikigaq (Point Hope) in February, Tobin piled up 36 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 16 of 19 from the field.
A three-year varsity starter and four-year contributor, Tobin helped guide Grace Christian to a pair of state championships and a record of 98-17 while scoring more than 1,000 points.
During his final campaign, Tobin earned MVP honors at the Karl Derek Ahgeak Invitational and Grace Grizzly Classic.
