The 13th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard passed through Texas on Friday, Apr. 6 to recognize
Allen (Texas) High School and its football team for winning a state championship and earning a high national ranking.

Having upended Lake Travis 35-33 in the
UIL Class 6A Division I state championship contest, the 16-0 Eagles claimed their fifth state football title, earned the No. 10 ranking in
MaxPreps' National Rankings and secured the No. 3 rung in
MaxPreps' Xcellent 25 Writers' Poll!
MaxPreps and the Texas Army National Guard joined forces in putting together Allen's final celebration commemorating the Eagle state championship season. Not only did the Eagles receive their state championship rings, Allen High School became the 50th football program in 2017-18 to accept the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy from the greatest high school sports tour in the country.
A group of coaches, parents and avid fans gathered for the day's presentation, to congratulate and celebrate with the Eagles for winning their fourth state championship in the past six years. MaxPreps representative Dustin Gaines kicked off the program by expressing how incredible it is to be ranked 10th out of 16,000 football programs. Gaines then introduced Staff Sergeant Richard Howes of the Texas Army National Guard, who presented the prestigious and coveted trophy to head football coach Terry Gambill, his coaching staff and the Eagle football players.
After accepting the trophy, Gambill addressed the fans, thanking them for their tremendous support throughout the season and for being an integral part of the team's state title run. At the end of the day, the Army National Guard national ranking trophy was proudly and prominently displayed in the school's trophy case, and the players each took home their championship rings signifying all four state championships. With a strong group of players returning next year there is little doubt that Allen will be back at the top sometime soon!
