The
West Jordan (Utah) football team took on a new battle this week, in addition to its Wednesday night game versus Alta: It picked up the battle against breast cancer.
According to Fox 8, West Jordan senior lineman
Brandon Russom's mother Bonnie was recently diagnosed with stage two breast cancer.
Faced with chemotherapy, she decided to shave her head before her hair began to fall out.
In a show of solidarity, Brandon shaved his head as well, then asked his teammates to shave their heads too.
Although West Jordan fell 17-14 to Alta on Wednesday, both the team and Bonnie Russom will likely remember the show of support long after it forgets the outcome of the game.
MaxPreps pro photographer Dave Argyle was on hand to capture photos of the powerful scene.
