The Ohio School for the Deaf Spartans fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Oklahoma School for the Deaf Bison on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bison by a score of 55-52. While losing is never fun, Ohio School for the Deaf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 815th in Ohio, while Oklahoma School for the Deaf is ranked 372nd in Oklahoma).
It was another big night for RyJan Reininger, who scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and three steals for Oklahoma School for the Deaf. Reininger hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Russell Fewel was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven assists and four steals.
Ohio School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Oklahoma School for the Deaf, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Ohio School for the Deaf will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbus Torah Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus Torah Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Oklahoma School for the Deaf on the road again on Saturday and play against Illinois School for the Deaf at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th.
