Monty Williams played nine seasons in the NBA, suiting up for the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers. The 6-foot-8 wing averaged 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game over the course of 456 games.
After spending five seasons as an assistant coach with the Portland Trailblazers, Williams was hired as the New Orleans Pelicans head coach in 2010 where he compiled a record of 173-221 over the span of five seasons with a pair of playoff appearances.
Following his dismissal from the Pelicans, Williams spent one season as the associate head coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder before joining the 76ers as an assistant in 2018-19.
Williams was then hired as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns in 2019. He compiled a record of 221-115 at the helm and led the team to its first NBA Finals appearance since 1993 in 2021. Williams was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2022 after going 64-18, but he was fired following a playoff loss during the 2023 season.
He was then was hired as the head coach of the Detroit Pistons but fired after just one season following a 14-68 record.

Ozmel Bowen. Williams' younger son, Micah Williams, is also currently an eighth grader enrolled at TMI-Episcopal.
In 2005, Williams won an NBA championship as a coaching staff intern with the San Antonio Spurs on a team that included both Duncan and Bowen.
