Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat
Cabrillo (Long Beach, Calif.), 35-6, on Saturday.
The Jackrabbits were up 28-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Gerard Wicks in the first quarter.
Long Beach Poly expanded its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. LBP's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run.
With the win the Jackrabbits extended their winning streak to six games. Long Beach Poly defeated the Bruins 48-6 last week.
Wicks stood out for LBP in the win. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
The Jaguars' lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
Led by
Iman Marshall, Coming into the game the Jackrabbits had allowed 18.0 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Cabrillo well below its season average of 23.3 points scored per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, LBP came away with a 43-6 victory.
