What a difference a day makes.
Bruton (Williamsburg, Va.) defeated Lafayette (Williamsburg, Va.) 5-3 on Friday to snap a 39-game baseball losing streak which dated back to the end of the 2009 season.
The previous day Bruton was pounded 21-1 by
Smithfield (Va.).in its season opener.
Pitcher Will Hailey played a major role in both games. In the opener he did not get past the first inning. However, the next day he pitched a complete-game seven-hitter.

Westminster Christian (Miami, Fla.) blanked Southwest (Miami, Fla.) 11-0 on Saturday night to win the prestigious 32-game Selective Recruiting/Sir Pizza Invitational, which started at Marlins Park and ended at the University of Miami's Alex Rodriguez Park.
Senior pitcher Mark Sanchez was named MVP after allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out 13 in 10 2/3 innings.

Madison Central (Madison, Miss.) to a 5-0 victory over Jackson Academy (Jackson, Miss.). He fired a no-hitter with just one walk and struck out a career-high 16 batters. Best friend Matt Denny struck out 11, but allowed four walks and three of them eventually scored.
