What a difference a day makes.
Bruton (Williamsburg, Va.) defeated Lafayette (Williamsburg, Va.) 5-3 on Friday to snap a 39-game baseball losing streak which dated back to the end of the 2009 season.
The previous day Bruton was pounded 21-1 by
Smithfield (Va.).in its season opener.
Pitcher Will Hailey played a major role in both games. In the opener he did not get past the first inning. However, the next day he pitched a complete-game seven-hitter.

Westminster Christian (Miami, Fla.) blanked Southwest (Miami, Fla.) 11-0 on Saturday night to win the prestigious 32-game Selective Recruiting/Sir Pizza Invitational, which started at Marlins Park and ended at the University of Miami's Alex Rodriguez Park.
