Well it certainly was an interesting atmosphere when the Tour of Champions visited South Medford High. Yes it was 80's day...and though the outfits were unique to say the least, hundreds of students and faculty members offered their enthusiastic support as we honored the South Medford Panthers basketball team.
The MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard truly embraces atmospheres such as we found at South Medford. The entire crowd was on their feet as cheerleaders and members of the Army National Guard fired shirts into the stands. MaxPreps' Calvin Clements finished off his three-school T of C stint, as the audience responded with cheers and applause directed at his charismatic speech. The Oregon Army National Guard wrapped up the ceremony with a trophy presentation to a charismatic man in his own right, Head Coach Dennis Murphy.
After spending some time with Coach Murphy following the ceremony, it is clear that South Medford possesses the rare combination of undeniable talent and humility. The Tour of Champions is honored to have had the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of such a deserving team. Congratulations to South Medford High, MaxPreps' number 8 team in America!
