Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in
high school basketball. America's source for high school sports continues
the tradition to close out the 2020-21 season by naming the top player in
each state. Selections are based on team success and individual
excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Cash McClure of
Maranacook (Readfield)
is the 2020-21 MaxPreps Maine High School Basketball Player of the
Year. The 6-foot-1 senior guard helped the Black Bears go 15-0 en route to the Class A/B championship game of the central Maine tournament.
McClure averaged 26 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals per contest. He finished his career with over 1,000 points.
In Maranacook's 86-61 tournament championship game win, McClure tallied 25 points and nine rebounds.
McClure announced he will be attending prep school next year, committing to play for Kimball Union Academy (Plainfield, N.H.).
Each
state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in
the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April
13.
