Video: (10) Allen vs. Denton Guyer - high school football preview
MaxPreps breaks down the huge contest in the Lone Star State.Guyer (Denton, Texas) at Allen (Texas)Why
it's big: Life without MaxPreps 2014-15 Male Athlete of the Year Kyler
Murray officially begins for defending national champion Allen. The
10th-ranked Eagles have a couple attractive options to replace Murray at
quarterback, including Minnesota transfer
Seth Green
(6-foot-4, 216 pounds). Green is an Oregon commit and the seventh-ranked
dual-threat prospect in the nation according to 247Sports, but he might
not even win the starting job from
Mitchell Jonke
(5-11, 173). Both quarterbacks played two quarters of Allen's 25-23
scrimmage loss to Martin (Arlington) last week, according to multiple
media reports.
According to media reports, Guyer junior quarterback
Shawn Robinson
was bottled up during a 31-19 scrimmage loss to Trinity (Euless) last
week. The TCU commit and nation's second-ranked dual-threat quarterback
in the Class of 2017 will need to break free this week with a
performance on par with his 408 total yards and two-touchdown output in a
55-41 loss to Allen last season.
Names to watch: Allen's offensive line features 247Sports' top-rated tackle -- and second-ranked prospect overall -- in
Gregory Little
(6-5, 305). He was committed to Texas A&M until a few months ago
but now is also considering offers from Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and Ole
Miss.
In addition to Robinson, Guyer has another touted Class of 2017 prospect in tight end
Brian Polendey. The 6-4, 235-pounder is a four-star prospect according to 247Sports.
