LeBron James and his sons
Bronny and
Bryce James were featured on the cover of
Sports Illustrated this week,
teasing an article that explores the dream of all three playing together at the professional level.
The cover photo shows LeBron James wearing a cut-off t-shirt with the cover photo of himself as "The Chosen One" from his high school days in 2002. Bronny is pictured on the left wearing a cut-off sweatshirt that shows LeBron's accomplishments as a senior in high school at
St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio), including winning the 2003 national championship. Bryce is standing on the right in a plain black t-shirt with his arms crossed.
Bronny, a 6-foot-3 combo guard, is ranked as the No. 41 overall prospect in the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports. He is a senior at
Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.).
Bryce, a 6-5 wing, is a relative unknown to the basketball universe after playing junior varsity with the Trailblazers last season. The 15-year old sophomore is expected to come off the bench at Sierra Canyon this season and play alongside his brother.
LeBron, turning 38 years old in December, embarks on his 20th NBA season in October with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Under the current NBA rules that require draft entrees to be 19 years old, Bronny would be eligible for the 2025 NBA Draft and Bryce would be eligible to enter the NBA in 2027. When Bryce is eligible to play during the 2027-28 NBA season, LeBron would be is his 24th year in the league and turning 43 years of age that season.
