Washington (Miami) claimed the No. 1 spot in the Medium Schools National Rankings at the beginning of the season and never relinquished that spot, finishing with a 14-0 record and a Florida Class 4A state championship.
Washington edges hard-charging Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.), which defeated both Serra (Gardena, Calif.), ranked No. 7, and Hart (Newhall, Calif.), ranked No. 21, in the playoffs before ultimately winning the California Division II state championship.
St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio), meanwhile, capped an undefeated season with a 15-0 mark and an Ohio Division III state championship.
The medium schools rankings are compiled using the MaxPreps Computer Rankings. Medium schools are those schools belonging to state enrollment divisions with generally between 1,000 to 2,000 students.
